A (WLAN) access point is a small device that can be used to extend the range of the WLAN signal, especially if the signal strength is not sufficient.

All services a customer receives from the distributor after the purchase of a product according to the contract are referred to as aftersales support. This also includes the SLA, Service Level Agreement, where primetime has 24/7 access to the customer’s TV in order to correct errors before they are noticed.

There is a choice of various atmospheric transmitters to create a nice ambience in the room, e.g. fireplace, waterfall, etc. If desired, primetime also offers to set up individual stations, such as broadcasting the in-house church service in the retirement home (Chapel Channel) or similar needs.

The phase-alternating line method refers to a method for colour transmission in analogue television.

With the Android TV and iOS apps, additional channels and streaming services can be accessed on the TV using a mobile phone. Android TV is an operating system for TV sets. It was developed by the company Google. Analogously, iOS is the operating system from Apple. A login is required for both apps.
Samsung’s H.Browser enables primetime to send any content directly to the TV without an app and without having to set up a complex infrastructure at the customer’s premises. What is needed is electricity and internet.

In a network, bandwidth means how much data can be transmitted at a given speed. The unit for this is Mbps, i.e. megabits per second.

With bandwidth management, the available bandwidth can be optimised. primetime’s solution requires minimal bandwidth, so the load on the network is low and stability is high.

The cache is an accumulation of data. When a website is called up, the browser downloads a copy of it and stores it. This makes the website load faster when it is called up again.

Reception via primetime is still guaranteed in the event of short-term failures or data leaks in the network.

With a camera, information can be transmitted, e.g. snow report in winter sports resorts.

Canaksiz TV is a group of more than 100 Turkish and Kurdish channels. The name Canaksiz TV means “television without a satellite dish” and is received with Wi-Fi. This service is developed and distributed by PrimeTime.

By means of certified apps, streaming services such as Netflix, Disney, Sky, DAZN etc. can be made available or cast on the TV from a notebook, smartphone or tablet. This is also called in-room entertainment.

The casting server is the hardware that is needed for casting to work. It is the interface between the casting WLAN and the public guest WLAN. A QR code must first be scanned on the TV in order to stream content.

A group of geographically distributed servers is called a content delivery network. Their task is to speed up the delivery of web content. Therefore, they are brought closer to the users’ location. Data centres around the world use caching.

primetime can set up individual channels, such as broadcasting the in-house church service in the retirement  home or similar needs. A channel can also be set up to create a beautiful ambience in the room, such as a fireplace, waterfall, etc. primetime also offers customised ambient films on request.

Chromecast is a device that allows you to connect notebooks, tablets and mobile phones to your TV via the Google Chromecast app and stream various channels.

A CMS (Content Management System) allows to create, modify or manage website content without programming knowledge. The goal of a CMS is to be able to adapt content on the website without changing anything in the code.

For example, all institutions, such as hotels, etc. can independently adapt changing, important information for their customers (digital signage). This happens in the dynamic info channels.

Coax technology refers to two-pole cables that are often used as antenna cables. Nowadays, these cables are obsolete. They are still used when existing buildings are to be provided with WLAN coverage cheaply and easily without major conversion. primetime is able to offer its signal via this cabling.

Connectivity means what the interface equipment of individual devices looks like, e.g. which interfaces are available on a TV set to connect it to a network.

Unwanted content can be excluded from the network in advance with content filters. Certain social media services, streaming protocols or video telephony can also be blocked via content filters. Hotels can use such filters to protect children from explicit content, for example.

Digital signage can be used for digital information and visual communication in public facilities, hotels, etc. Using a central CMS, you can, for example, transmit daily updated information to various screens. This is also called dynamic info channels.

With the Digital Subscriber Line or digital subscriber connection, data is transmitted at high transmission rates via the network of telephone lines. Other internet technologies include FTTH, VDSL, etc.

A dual core processor has two cores, which theoretically increase the clock frequency and the performance of the PC. In practice, the performance of the PC additionally depends on other factors.

Digital Video Broadcasting – C(able) means Digital Cable Television. primetime is in a position to offer this technology.

Digital Video Broadcasting – Satellite – Second Generation means digital broadcasting via satellite. primetime is in a position to offer this technology.

Digital Video Broadcasting – Terrestrial means digital transmission via antenna. primetime is in a position to offer this technology.

Dynamic info channels are used to keep guests up to date with news and information in real time. Marketing is thus able to quickly and professionally push content to guests on screens and/or TVs.

Ethernet is used to exchange data packets between end devices such as computers, printers, Smart TVs, etc. within a local and closed network. etc. Data packets are exchanged within a local and closed network. Originally, this was intended for local data networks and is also called LAN technology (local area network). In contrast to other technologies, Ethernet is very fast:
1000 megabits/s, equivalent to 1 gigabit/s.

With the Electronic Programme Guide, information about the current TV and radio programme can be accessed. primetime has over 600 channels from 47 countries in 33 languages. The most popular channels can be called up up to 7 days in advance.

Thanks to core redundancies, various data centre locations and redundant network infrastructure, primetime has the lowest failure rate in Switzerland.

FIAS stands for Fidelio Interface Application Specification and is often used as an interface, as middleware, to front office systems for check-in/check-out and billing in the hotel industry. These systems offer all services that are necessary for the operation of a hotel.

The fibre optic network is currently the fastest transmission medium for data communication. Data is transmitted at a rate of up to 1 GBit/s for residential customers and up to 100 GBit/s for business customers.

Software used in the hotel industry for check-in/check-out and billing is called a front office system. See also PMS.

Many hotels offer their guests a digital guest folder with all important information about the hotel. By means of a QR code, it can be called up on the screen and mobile devices.

The HDMI stick works similarly to a Chromecast device. It is plugged into the TV set and can receive the respective enabled content via a casting server, for example a hotel.

Highly redundant architecture for transmitting streams to different terminals and installations.

HTTP Live Streaming is a media streaming protocol for sending visual and audio files over the Internet.

Hospitality Core is a central server that serves to provide data in a specific area.

Hospitality TV is tailored to the needs of users and can cover entertainment such as television, streaming, on-demand films, internet, as well as the needs of hosts, such as advertising on their own behalf, control over the consumption behaviour of guests, etc. Examples are hotels, health care facilities, retirement homes, etc.

The Hospitality TV Server is located directly on site (hotel, hospital, retirement home,…). It receives the channels from the hospitality core and distributes them in the building.

Hotel TV is a device specifically designed for hotels and similar institutions. It has functions and features that enable specific configurations and make central management accessible.

A hotspot is a public and wireless internet access. It is also called a WLAN hotspot.

Hospitality TV Server Multicast. Multicasting is the digital transmission of messages from a source to a group of receivers. With multicasting, the data transmission rate corresponds to the transmission for a single receiver. This provides primetime with rapid data transmission.

primetime can respond to customer wishes and set up individual channel profiles, right down to room level.

Infotainment is a blend of information and entertainment. It is used in particular where an advertising message or a product is to be marketed. For example, a hotel, a hospital or a retirement home can advertise its products and services on the TV screen in every room.

In-house communication can be realised, for example, with the residents of a hospital, a retirement home or with the guests of a hotel. In a hospital, you can also monitor the patients by means of in-house communication via screen.

Hotels were able to offer their guests satellite and cable TV, streaming services, on-demand movies and internet access early on. In the meantime, this has become almost standard in the private sector.

Interface for data exchange between Hotel PMS and Hotel TV. Possible functions are the display of statements, the sending of messages or the possibility to book hotel services via Hotel TV Navigation, e.g. a massage, room service, etc.

Internet Protocol Television is a technology that allows you to watch television via the Internet without a satellite system, antenna or cable connection.

An IPTV middleware server is necessary if a unicast solution cannot be integrated directly into the hotel TV devices. The IPTV middleware converts the IPTV signal into e.g. DVB-C or multicast IPTV output.

Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting is a standard for digital, terrestrial media transmission and was introduced in Tokyo in 1999. Various countries in South America, Asia and Africa also use this standard.

By clicking on a link, you are directed to the landing page, the advertising medium of a company, institution, etc. This can be individually (customised) designed. Ideally, there are several landing pages. A separate page is created for each product or offer. The purpose of a landing page is marketing. Here primetime offers the customer the option of displaying a still or moving image when the device is switched on.

A local server is on site and creates and manages the Internet access data.

With the software Windows Media Center or Media Center, films, pictures and music can be played. The user interface of the Media Center can be controlled with the remote control as well as with the mouse and keyboard. The software is integrated in Microsoft operating systems such as Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 10.

Or Microsoft Media Center Award, is an award in the categories of design, performance, website and overall rating. In 2006, primetime was awarded the title “Best Media Center 2006” for best overall value with its X-Vision model.

To close gaps between applications, tools or databases, so-called middleware software is used. Since primetime offers every technology, middleware is needed for every infrastructure to close gaps between applications and other tools or databases.

With mirroring, you can “mirror” the content of your mobile device onto a TV set using the corresponding app. For wireless transmission, the television must be connected to WLAN. Mirroring is a mirror image of the end device. Unlike casting, the smartphone is displayed 1:1 in a small section on the TV.

A modem is needed to exchange data for the internet connection. Here, signals are translated and transmitted from an Internet provider into an Internet connection, which in turn is transmitted by a WLAN router.

With the Mosaic module, you can download your favourite TV programmes in original quality directly to your hard disk. Mosaic is a live image of different TV channels in one TV channel.

Monitoring refers to the supervision by a server of the computers connected to it. This is done by means of software for system administrators. The tool sounds an alarm in the event of malfunctions or failures, for example. Depending on the technology, all data points and interfaces are monitored live. With its monitoring system, primetime is able to locate and rectify most errors before the customer notices them, 24/7!

Moving Pictures Expert Group Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over http refers to a streaming method using http.

Moving Pictures Expert Group-Transport Stream is a standardised communication protocol used to transmit audio, video and data. It can transmit digital video and digital audio bundled together. A transport stream is the name for a standardised communication protocol for transmitting audio, video and data. It is specified in MPEG-2 Part 1, Systems. MPEG-TS is used to continuously transmit digital video and digital audio in bundled form.

Multicasting is the digital transmission of messages from a starting point to a group of receivers. With multicasting, the data transmission rate corresponds to the transmission for a single receiver. This provides primetime with rapid data transmission.

Message transmission from a point to a group. The primetime Server (HSM, Hospitality Server Multicast) establishes a connection to the primetime Core and obtains the desired transmitter packet. It is then distributed to the customer’s own building network.

Applications on mobile end devices are referred to as native apps (adapted application), which have been designed and developed specifically for an operating system, namely that of the respective end device. For example, primetime offers the possibility of receiving the comprehensive range of channels via the primetimeTV app.

Over-the-top TV – television that leaves nothing to be desired. This technology is capable of transmitting TV and radio programmes via the Internet or via a fibre-optic network. primetime has a corresponding server that provides high-quality international TV and radio programmes that meet the highest security standards.

Property Management System is a software platform and forms an interface e.g. to the Fidelio programme for invoicing, for reservations, for check-in and as a welcome in the room.

Power over Ethernet can be used to supply network-compatible devices with power. These obtain power via the data network, where power is additionally fed into the data line in addition to the data signals. Networks that have little power use PoE.

Messages that appear on a mobile phone, tablet or TV without opening an app are called push messages.

The electronically generated code can be scanned with a corresponding mobile phone app. There are numerous possible uses for the QR Code.

Through the multiple parallel design of the safety-related system (redundancy), primetime minimises the risk of total failure, as in the event of a failure of one component, the others ensure operation.

With the primetime TV solution, there is the option to watch a programme at a later time.

The router is responsible for the network at home. It establishes the connection between the home LAN or WLAN and the public Internet. Most routers have a corresponding modem built in so that they can communicate with the remote station of the Internet provider.

primetime offers a service package for its customers, the Service Level Agreement, whereby primetime can access the customer’s TV 24/7 to correct faults before they are noticed.

Using the Mosaic module, you can get an overview of the variety of stations. It is also helpful for monitoring the stations and detecting interference from primetime.

A Smart TV has additional interfaces such as USB, network, WLAN, etc. to access the Internet. primetime offers the possibility of receiving the comprehensive range of channels via the primetimeTV app.

The user enters his or her telephone number via an online form and receives an access code for the WLAN.

A solid state drive behaves in the same way as a hard disk, but has no moving parts. An SSD, in comparison, has a higher throughput rate (data transported from a to b in a system in a certain amount of time).

Sending and receiving data via app (e.g. films, music, games) is called streaming. The data is continuously transmitted to the computer or smartphone without being downloaded.

A connecting element for different network computers is called a switch. It forms a bridge with several ports, so to speak.

This is a device that is a good compromise between a laptop and a smartphone. There is no keyboard, but a touch surface.

You can access the WLAN with an individual code via ticketing.

Unicast is a digital message transmission from a source to a receiver. Unicast is best suited for on-demand content. You can watch content whenever you want.

Very High Rate Digital Subscriber Line has the special advantage of high achievable speed and is thus considered one of the most modern transmission methods for Internet access.

With Video on Demand, you can download films from an online service or watch them immediately with streaming.

Wireless Local Area Network, refers to a wireless local network that connects end devices such as PCs, etc. to the Internet without cables. WiFi, Wireless Fidelity, is a brand name. Devices labelled WiFi can receive WLAN. The terms are actually synonyms, but WiFi is more common abroad.
